Marie Madeline Cardon with her family were some of the first people in Italy to be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. One day they were hosting a meeting at their home when an angry mob came to harm the missionaries who were there. Marie courageously went out to confront the mob. She told them that the missionaries were under her protection and that they could not harm a hair on their heads. Astonished the mob left.
