Entry 5: Mother Teresa (1910-1997)

Agnes Bojaxhiu (Later, Mother Teresa) left her Eastern Europe home at age 18 to be a missionary with the Sisters of Loreto, a religious congregation dedicated to education.
She traveled to Bengal and taught at a school in Calcutta. Being disturbed by all the suffering around her, she felt she received a divine call to help the poor while living among them.  After leaving the Sisters of Loreto she passed through much difficulty.  It was during this time she learned how the poor must feel.  She started the Missionaries of Charity organization whose mission was to care for people who were suffering--whether it be physically, socially, mentally, or spiritually.  She helped many people and had a lot of success.
