Seeing as the media and often society just show women as sex objects and symbols of men’s success I wanted to highlight a few women from history to show how valuable women really are, and that their contributions to society are appreciated.

Entry 24: Deborah Sampson (1760-1827)
Deborah Sampson's parents had difficultly making ends meet, so she served as an indentured servant from ages 10-18. When the American Revolutionary war broke out she really wanted to do something so she disguised herself as a man and joined the army. She served very bravely and would often hide her wounds so that she wouldn't be discovered. It wasn't until two years after enlisting that she was discovered. Because she served so well she was honorably discharged.
